Welcome!
PACA Welcomes Megan Dennis as Director of Environmental, Safety & Health

We are pleased to announce that Megan Dennis has joined the association as its new director of environmental, safety and health.

In this role, Ms. Dennis will offer strategic guidance on environmental, safety and health regulations, as well as provide educational support to PACA members regarding state and federal acts, statutes and regulations, and on agencies’ initiatives that affect the crushed stone, ready mixed concrete, sand and gravel, and cement industries. Additionally, Ms. Dennis will foster collaboration to advance statewide policies and regulations that promote the interests of these industries.

“We are excited to welcome Megan to the PACA staff,” said PACA board chairperson Jeff Detwiler of New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. Inc. “Her extensive background in environmental compliance and active involvement in the association make her an excellent fit for this key role, especially as the association grows it presence throughout the commonwealth.”

Ms. Dennis has been actively engaged with PACA through the Young Leaders Development Group (YLDG) and the Environmental Community. She is also a graduate of the inaugural PACA Emerging Leaders Academy (PELA), further demonstrating her commitment to the industry and her leadership potential.

Ms. Dennis comes to the association with over 12 years of experience, most recently as a senior scientist at Skelly and Loy, a Terracon company. In that role she focused her efforts on coordinating Federal Section 404 of the Clean Water Act permitting and Pennsylvania Chapter 105 permitting by integrating engineering and environmental services, training in jurisdictional wetland identification, data management, threatened and endangered species studies, and the preparation of NEPA documentation.

PACA members can contact Megan by email at [email protected] or by phone at 717.574.4154.

Let the General Election Craziness Begin!

Article by Hank Butler, PACA Lobbyist

Now that the political party conventions have ended, students are going back to school, and football season is upon us, it is time to monitor and examine the political climate moving into the General Election on Tuesday, November 5th.

This is an important election for Pennsylvania with elections for:

  • United States President
  • United States Senator representing Pennsylvania
  • United States members of Congress
  • Half of the members of the Pennsylvania Senate
  • Members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives

Looking at Pennsylvania, there is only one House seat that separates the current majority and minority parties (102 Democrats/ 101 Republicans). As voters choose the party ticket, a change in one seat can transform the direction of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and legislation they choose to consider.

One poll does not show the political climate of the state, but if you look at numerous polls of Pennsylvania voters (below), one can see a trend. This trend shows how close the Presidential race is in the Commonwealth currently.
