The NRMCA is undergoing a revision to the Industry-Wide Environmental Product Declaration (IW EPD) and Benchmark Report for ready mixed concrete this year. Industry is invited to participate in Version 4.0 of the IW EPD and Benchmark Report to ensure the latest environmental data are included per the international standards. There will be some new wrinkles added to this version, including regional and sub-regional data.
EPDs are being specified in green building standards and codes (LEED, IGCC) v4, advocacy initiatives (Architecture 2030 Challenge for Products) and even referenced in State and Local legislation. These types of market-based and regulatory initiatives are driving an increase of EPDs in many industries and product categories.
The cost to participate in the IW EPD is only $50 per plant (for an NRMCA member) and $250 per plant (for an NRMCA non-member). If you are interested in learning more about the program click here to watch a video on the subject.
