PACA Board and Associate Board Announce Candidates for Annual Meeting Election

The Nominating Committees for both the PACA Board of Directors and the Associate Board of Directors are pleased to announce their candidates for the elections to be held at the Annual Meeting in Hershey in November.

Announcing the Latest eLearning Course Offered by PACA

The latest course on Aggregates has been launched and is now AIA approved. This brings our total to four courses that you can promote to the design community in your area. It is a wonderful way to begin or strengthen existing relationships with the design community. You may also find these courses beneficial for new hires to help introduce them to our industries. Also released was a YouTube video “What Designers and Specifiers Should Know about EPDs for Ready Mixed Concrete”. The video is approximately 30 minutes long and provides information on EPDs, their importance and components of the EPD, discusses Global Warming Potential targets and practical applications for EPDs. HRG Learns about Sustainability: Presentations to Specifying Community Continue

Susan Armstrong had the pleasure of presenting “Adopting Innovations to Improve Durability and Designing for Sustainability” to Herbert, Rowland Grubic Inc. (HRG). The presentation was a hybrid presentation with 11 in person and streamed to their offsite offices throughout the state with a total of 34 in attendance.

Questions regarding performance-based specifications and emerging materials highlighted the discussion at the end of the presentation.

Habitat for Humanity Breaks Ground

Pennsylvania College of Technology in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity broke ground on a new project in which the two organizations will team up to construct this new house. The college donated the land, and the many trades from the college will help in the construction, beginning this week with sight layout and preparation of the site. By the time the project is completed in May 2026, students from at least six Penn College programs will have helped with construction including students from the Concrete Science Technology Program and Construction Management Program.

The Pennsylvania State University will be holding their inaugural Extraction Industries Career Fair on October 30th in University Park, PA.

PennDOT/NECEPT Certified Concrete Field Testing Technician Program 2025 Schedule of Certification Classes

The Construction Quality Assurance Division of the Bureau of Construction and Materials is pleased to announce that the 2025 schedule for the PennDOT Certified Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification classes has been established and posted on the Northeast Center of Excellence for Pavement Technology (NECEPT) website at www.superpave.psu.edu. The schedule of classes, course registration, and directions for participants may be found on the website. Four (4) virtual courses will be held using the WebEx(tm) Platform, between January 30, 2025 and March 20, 2025.

Schedule: Virtual courses will be held starting in January 2025 and ending in March 2025. The course schedule, course registration, course agenda, and the exam retest registration are available on NECEPT’s website at www.superpave.psu.edu under the Training menu.

Course Fee: The 2025 course fee is $90 per person.
