PACA Board of Directors Approves New & Updated Community Leadership

A "community" is a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals. These sharing of common attitudes, interests and goals is the very reason why majority of PACA's committees are referred to as "communities" rather than committees. And, all are welcome to be a part of these communities - producer and associate members alike.

Recently, at the April Board of Directors meeting, PACA's Board of Directors approved the leadership of PACA's various communities. Thank you to all who volunteer their time and sweat equity to help promote and improve the industry across the Commonwealth.

Build Your Own Spotted Lantern Fly Traps - Instructions Available

As we’ve discussed previously, the spotted lanternfly is a nasty, invasive insect that can decimate grapevines and trees. One way to kill them without using insecticides is to trap them.

As they get blown out of the trees when they are young, they climb back up the tree to resume feeding, so PennState Extension has devised a trap you can make for your trees. This new style trap is made of plastic-coated insect screening and does not use any sticky material at all, which can catch small birds and animals. If you don’t want to make your own trap, do an internet search for circle weevil traps, as they are similar.

The link for instructions to build one can be found here.
